Senior Process Engineer –Semiconductor Manufacturing | Groningen
Our partner is an innovative deep-tech companydeveloping advanced sensor technology for high-end imaging applications.Operating at the intersection of cutting-edge materials science and scalablemanufacturing, they are entering a critical growth phase: moving from proof ofconcept to pilot production. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someonewho has done this before and knows what it takes to make technologymanufacturable. We’re open to candidates willing to relocate, including fromelsewhere in Europe.
Role Overview
As Senior Process Engineer, you play a key role inscaling proprietary sensor technology from lab-scale development to wafer-levelpilot production. You bridge R&D and manufacturing, translating researchprocesses into stable, reproducible and manufacturable process flows. This isnot a research or academic role (this is already covered), the team is lookingfor someone who brings real industrial production experience and knows how tobuild a product, not just develop one.
In the beginning, a big part of your time is hands-on:wafer-level processing, process development and stabilisation. The remainderinvolves supplier alignment and later on the further buildout of the productionsetup and team.
KeyResponsibilities
- Lead process development and scale-up from lab-scale to production
- Translate R&D processes into stable, reproducible and manufacturable process flows
- Define, optimise and document process parameters for thin-film, coating, deposition and integration steps
- Troubleshoot process and equipment-related issues in collaboration with R&D and equipment engineers
- Drive yield improvement, process stability and manufacturability
- Work closely with equipment vendors and internal teams on tool qualification and process integration
- Support cleanroom and pilot-line operations, ensuring robust process control and repeatability
- Contribute to technology transfer from R&D into pilot and future production environments
- Think along on which additional people and capabilities are needed to further shape the production setup
YourProfile
- More than 5 years of (hands-on) experience in semiconductor processing, or advanced sensor manufacturing
- Proven track record in scaling processes from R&D to pilot or production environments — industry experience is essential, purely academic or research-based backgrounds will be critically assessed
- Strong understanding of thin-film processing, deposition techniques and device integration
- Experience with wafer-level processing environments is a strong plus
- Background at semiconductor or process technology companies is a relevant indicator
- HBO or WO degree in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology or a related field
- Comfortable taking a clear technical position in an environment where internal opinions on the ideal approach may differ
- Proactive, structured and quality-driven. You add knowledge the team does not yet have
- Available and willing to work on-site in Groningen; relocation is possible, including for candidates from abroad
Whatis on offer
- A key role in a fast-growing deep-tech company with direct impact on scaling breakthrough sensor technology toward industrial application
- High degree of ownership and technical responsibility in a small, driven team
- Competitive salary in line with seniority and experience
- Both permanent and contractor arrangements are open for discussion
