Job description

Unity Partners on behalf of our offshore energy partner

Lead Instrumentation Engineer – Offshore & Energy Projects | The Netherlands

Our partner is a leading engineering organization specializing in offshore wind, oil & gas, and energy transition solutions. Their instrumentation team ensures that complex installations operate with maximum reliability — even under extreme offshore conditions. From large-scale wind platforms to pioneering hydrogen projects, they deliver systems that enable precise monitoring, control, and safety.

To strengthen their engineering capability, we are seeking a Lead Instrumentation Engineer who combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills. In this role, you take ownership of the instrumentation discipline within multidisciplinary projects, guiding engineers, coordinating with suppliers and clients, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Instrumentation Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the instrumentation discipline within offshore and energy projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance.
  • Contribute to system design, evaluate technical documents, and support tender and proposal processes.
  • Design and review instrumentation systems including sensors, detection systems, control systems, and safety-related instrumentation.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, process, and automation engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, review technical offers, and engage with clients to clarify requirements.
  • Ensure designs follow applicable codes, standards, and classification bureau rules.
  • Coach junior engineers, safeguard quality, and maintain oversight across project phases.
  • Continuously evaluate work processes to drive improvement and embed best practices.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience, including several years in a lead engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation engineering principles, classification bureau requirements, and industry codes.
  • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Structured, decisive, and capable of maintaining overview and clarity under pressure.

Organization & Offer

You will join a diverse and highly skilled engineering environment where technical challenge and teamwork go hand in hand. Expect a culture with short communication lines, a pragmatic mindset, and a strong focus on quality.

What you can expect:

  • Exciting engineering projects across sectors — from offshore wind platforms to infrastructure, industrial plants, and advanced marine systems.
  • A friendly, professional atmosphere with regular company events, team outings, and sports trips.
  • Flexible employment conditions: choose more salary, additional vacation days, or a combination.
  • Excellent secondary benefits, including:
    • 31 vacation days
    • 7% annual bonus
    • Profit sharing
    • Flexible pension scheme
    • Travel and home-working allowance
  • Broad opportunities for professional development through training, certifications, and courses.
