Unity Partners on behalf of our offshore energy partner
E&I SPI Designer – Offshore Energy Projects | The Netherlands
Our partner is a leading engineering organization delivering complex offshore energy projects, including high-voltage offshore substations that play a key role in the energy transition. To strengthen their Electrical & Instrumentation design team, we are looking for an experienced E&I SPI Designer who enjoys building robust cable designs that work flawlessly long before installation starts.
In this role, you ensure that complex E&I cable systems are correctly designed, connected, and documented — providing the foundation for safe, efficient installation and commissioning offshore.
Key Responsibilities
As an E&I SPI Designer, you will:
- Design complete E&I cable infrastructures for offshore energy projects.
- Build and maintain a detailed SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI / Intools) database containing all E&I components, cables, and terminal strips.
- Connect cables within the wiring module and ensure correct termination logic.
- Generate termination diagrams and loop diagrams using tools such as SPI, Infomaker, and AutoCAD.
- Ensure the SPI database is accurate, complete, and up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with E&I designers and other disciplines to align cable design with the overall engineering model.
- Minimise installation errors by delivering clear, consistent, and high-quality documentation.
Your Profile
- Completed vocational education (MBO) in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar E&I or SPI design role.
- Hands-on experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (Intools).
- Experience using Infomaker and AutoCAD.
- Proven ability to generate wiring diagrams, termination diagrams, and loop drawings.
- Accurate, structured, and able to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
Organization & Offer
You will join a close-knit E&I design team working within a large, multidisciplinary engineering organization. The culture is professional, informal, and focused on collaboration and shared success.
What you can expect:
- High-impact projects across sectors — from offshore wind platforms to infrastructure, industrial facilities, and marine systems.
- A professional yet friendly working environment where expertise and enjoyment go hand in hand.
- Flexible employment conditions: choose a higher salary, extra vacation days, or a combination.
- Excellent secondary benefits, including:
- 31 vacation days
- 7% annual bonus
- Profit sharing
- Flexible pension scheme
- Travel allowance & work-from-home compensation
- Extensive opportunities for training, courses, and professional development.
